Sarasota, Florida

Site One-time home of entrepreneur Powel Crosely and his family.  The 2-story Mediterranean-style mansion  was built in the 1930's as a "kit" with pre-manufactured and engineered pieces of the home shipped to the jobsite and installed.  This allowed the home to be constructed in months rather than years.
Program Upgrade facilities infrastructure while retaining as much of the original character and finishes of the historic estate, as possible, for the building's function as a  conference and banquet facility.
Solution As part of a continuing rehabilitation, Lunz Prebor Fowler Architects took part in the restoration of finishes and fixtures in restrooms; suggested solutions to address acoustical issues; added period-correct handrails to stairs; corrected air conditioning cooling and noise issues; suggested period-correct lighting upgrades; and converted Powel's original study into a conference room.
