	Site The new studio is located on Lake Morton in historic downtown Lakeland, Florida.  The lake is surrounded by a unique and diverse collection of architectural styles, from bungalow, to 1950's modern, to classic revival.
	Program To renovate and enlarge an existing 1950's structure that was a private residence.  The architectural and structural integrity of the building was compromised by previous renovations, therefore little of the original structure was salvageable.  The new design studio needed to retain the footprint of the building to comply with community zoning laws.  The interior space needs required large open areas for project teaming and support spaces.
	Solution To remove the existing second floor and construct a new larger floor that extended out over the 1st floor.  The zoning requirements were met, covered parking was created at the rear of the building, and the square footage was increased to accommodate the open areas for project teaming.  The new design studio while contemporary, borrowed the essence of 50's modern architectural design.
